Mr Eps Drops A Nice CLASSIC Mix

Wow. This is an epic mix by Hip Hop Sessions and No Half-Steppin' Crew DJ Mr Eps.
Loads of classics and underated tracks (and some new 'uns to me) as well as smatterings of some great movie dialogue keep things chugging along nicely.

March 2012 ABU! Takeover Show - DOWNLOAD

It was the ABU! Takeover show last night hosted exclusively on my man, Waxer's Disco Scratch Radio.
I hope you managed to get into the chatroom for some if not the whole shebang. There were a couple of new names, too so good to see that.

Remember I want your choices for the Album Spotlight. Send two cuts from an album that you love. Big shout to Hayhooooooooe for his MC Shan flavour this month - even though all Juice Crew talk is strictly prohibited at the moment.
Good looking out to Howard CRAZE for the UTFO request - really good to hear that again. I have an old mouldy Mango Pineapple Kiwi Chupa Chup lollypop (that I found down the side of one of the kids' seats whilst cleaning my car the other week) with optional fluff ready and raring to go to anyone who knows Kangol Kid's last verse in 'Hanging Out'.

Let us know if you have a request for April's show. Come on, challenge me!

Can’t Stop Won’t Stop – The Next Lesson Mixtape – DJ Sharp & DJ Icewater

Last year I read the book 'Can't Stop, Won't Stop' by Jeff Chang which is about the proper history of hip hop.
Some of it is rather challenging - especially the later chapters - and does tend to go too much into the socio-economics a little too much. However the early chapters are especially rewarding and the section on gangs is enlightening as well as eye-opening.
However I didn't discover that there was a CD to go with the book until after I'd finished reading it so I leapt onto ebay and managed to find a sealed copy for just 99p. You don't necessarily need to read the book to enjoy the album as the cd is more or less a self-contained history lesson to music.

Dondi - Like

My funky fresh, homeboy in the flesh, Mr LG of Style Warrior almost made me fall off my chair this morning when I saw he had posted this incredibly dope and astute little piece on his site.
A nice observation on the legendary NYC writer, DONDI and his monologue during the classic Style Wars documentary mashed-up with a certain social network.

Style Warriors Revenge

Blog recommendation time......

My man WARZ has been supplying quality treats for x-amount of time now and has reached a year with his site Style Warriors Revenge. Check the completely-dope logo above.
This has the official ABU! seal of approval so stick it in yer Favourites or whatever RSS reader you down with because you don't want to really miss out on anything.

The last post I did -which was Mr Thing's Superstar Mix - was smashed n' grabbed live and direct from WARZ so big props to the man. Braaaapppp.

No Half Steppin' Jam February 2012

Norwich's very own Paranoid Parker has graciously uploaded the latest installment of footage from the monthly No Half Steppin' series of jams.
Look closely and you'll see me spinning some electro beauties as well as some Golden Age 'bangers'.
The guy with the moves near the end of the video is the afore-mentioned legendary Paranoid Parker - who incidentally is the cameraman, too - who practically IS the embodiment of hip hop in Norwich.
Look and learn, flower.

No Disco Scratch Tonight

Due to technical issues, there will sadly be no Disco Scratch Radio Show tonight.
We shall all be forced to *shudder* talk to our other halves for two hours.
