Hip Hop Connection Magazine - Issues 24 & 25

Here are two more scans of Hip Hop Connection mags. The first of 1991, one of my favourite years, as we shall see with some classic singles and albums.

Issue #24, January 1991

A packed issue with a huge feature which gathers together a round table of some of the biggest names of UK rap in 1991 to discuss its failings and plans for the future.
There's also features on A Tribe Called Quest (back in the era of 'Instinctive Travels...'), F.O.R.C.E. (who would partner up soon with K-Zee), and Katch-22, who are just about ready to drop their debut album "The Diary Of A Black Man In A Lost World" (the title would later be slightly changed).

Issue #25, February 1991

Front cover stars are Caveman and there really couldn't be a better example of a more civilised, cosy British crew - going by their interview. It's not the South Bronx. It's not even Hackney. The interview is conducted in a snug recording studio and then continued in the local Pizza Hut!
There's plenty more focus on UK rap elsewhere, with Ruthless Rap Assassins (who criminally never reached the heights that they should have) and MC Duke who has plenty to say (including the work of his own producer, Simon Harris). Besides that, popping up is the very lovely, Sensi who also doesn't mince her words. One of the best quotes you'll hear is when she talks about Monie Love - "she's wearing a hat that looks as if it's a free gift from Smarties". Sadly, the album she's promoting (Lady Raps The Blues) never got released).

Hey, this is REPO! While I love to see your comments, if you leave one under ANON why not put your real or chosen name at the end of the message?

Peace.
