Groove Records 2011

Things done changed.
Groove Records, Greek Street, London, W1 in 2011 sure looks a sorry and, yes sordid little place now.
Just what Auntie Jean would say about this I dread to think.

The sign on the door ain't advertising the new MC Shy D 12" either

  6. Indeed anonymous, its all on line now so the shops will dissapear soon also cause of crippling rents...I used to be in Groove every Thursday after getting paid...I still have one of their yellow bags somewhere too....Guess it may be worth a bit on E-Bay...lol

  8. Amazing. I was just recalling some great 'vinyl times' when I happened across this! Groove was the place to be. I bought Chosen Ones and 5ive-O-Posse vinyls here, as well as Robert Brookins' (RIP) first album. I used to love the groovy orange bags! At least it's being put to good use, eh. Eternally great memories.

Nice blog, guys. Keep it up.

  9. A lot of the better shops have gone for good in the North West of England too. It's sad indeed as i've built quite a large collection, mainly from spending a lot of time in shops looking through racks and crates and even now I find it impossible to pass a record shop without venturing inside.

I'm going to be hitting some of the record shops of London before the Street Sounds event next weekend if any of you good people can point me in the right direction. I thought Camden and Notting Hill, as i've picked up some gems before in those 2 areas, but i'm open to checking out new places.

And who was the lovely old dame who used to sit in the shop nodding her approval or shaking her head in disagreement at every new track that came in?

Hey, this is REPO! While I love to see your comments, if you leave one under ANON why not put your real or chosen name at the end of the message?

Peace.
