Did you know that there was another version of 'Bambaataa's Theme' that was never released?
Let me know what you think.
This is the 'official' mix that you're probably more used to.

This was always my favourite version, I remember getting the Album and wondering what the hell this new version was (I like it now but I still prefer the OG). Shame it was never released on wax.
I like this version!
Cool..
If it was unreleased, then how is there a version of it to listen to on Youtube? How do you know it wasn't made by some dumb DJ wannabe? How do we know you didn't make it hoping you'd get a ton of accolades for it? 2nd version is better, more interest to it. If indeed the first was unreleased, I can see why. As a musician myself, I can see where he may have listened and listened to it over and over and finally kept certain aspects of it changing other to make it a much fuller, more rounded theme.
'Unreleased' means it was never sold to the public or released as a single.
This version may have existed only on a reel-to-reel in a studio somewhere for years.
Thanks for the videos :)
Classic Africa Bambaataa. Thanks for the video :)
Hey this is my video that you have used to show the unreleased version. Glad that people like it!! I can send out an mp3 file for people that want it.
To comment on the anonymous idiot, yes it is an unreleased version and it was done by Bambaataa. Have you ever heard of white labels or acetates? These are promos that get sent to radio stations for airplay prior to release so that they can get an idea of public reaction. This particular mix was only ever played 3 times on Capital radio by Mike Allen. This song was inspired by the theme tune to the movie Assault on Precinct 13.
So glad you came on here to prove that the goods are genuine, Funkamentalist.
Do you know a correct way to accomplish that?
from youtube, vimeo etc on my mac?
I really dunno why this particular blog entry tends to get the most spam messages.
You're wasting your time, idiots. I just delete them before they go on the blog anyway.
I still prefer the standard 12" version but it's nice to hear an alternative mix.
