New York Graffiti Experience ©1976



 

Filmed in 1976 - a full 5 years before Stations of the Elevated - this brief documentary takes an unbiased look at the then burgeoning graffiti scene in New York City.
Some nice shots of the city and people as well as the pieces themselves are shown here with words from CLIFF of the Three Yard Boys (3YB)

I really love the song that plays throughout - 'Call Me French Fry 97' - which is a slice of pure 70s singer-songwriter, faux-funk which is told from a writer's point of view. Bizarrely brilliant.
